Food Prep and Macros

Nine months ago when I started on my journey I didn’t know what a macro was when it came to portions and meals. I had never meal prepped (leftovers isn’t prepping). But it was these 2 things that got me the gains and the weight losses I am maintaining today.

As you all know, you can ask me about what I’ve done or ask questions you may have about these things and more.

As a certified nutrition coach who doesn’t find my creativity in the kitchen I struggle with finding and making meals that I and my family will enjoy and can get stuck on repeat. Go to meals are essential but mixing it up even a couple times a week keeps life interesting and sustainable.

A lifestyle of wellness isn’t a lifestyle if you can’t sustain it.

I’ve partnered with an online meal planning company and another certified nutrition coach who is creative in the kitchen to bring some meal prep for real people. It has things I need like ingredients and shopping lists and a step by step directions without fluff and stories. Pics and steps- yes and thank you!

Try the BBQ chicken with sweet potatoes and coleslaw- yummy .😊

I love this because I can see the protein which is key for me and the fresh ingredients and vegetables, which means I will also get my fiber – the 2 big things to look at.

If you’re interested in tracking macros (which I don’t do so much after figuring out other very sustainable ways of managing my food) I have been using the Lose It app. There’s a free version available. It’s handy to get a sense of macros. I also like the hand measurement method or simply paying attention to my protein, fiber/veggies and timing of my carbs breakfast.

How do you stay on track with a healthy and sustainable lifestyle?
