The 1-Thing Way Nonprofit Partnership and Investment Initiative for Social Impact

Supporting the People Behind the Mission

At the heart of every great cause is a team of people giving their all. But too often, those who spend their days serving others are the first to run out of the energy they need for their own lives.

The 1-Thing Way Impact Initiative was created to change that. As the author of The 1-Thing Way, I’ve seen how easy it is for our personal lives and our work to feel like a constant tug-of-war. I believe the best way to support a mission is to invest in the personal capacity of the people driving it.

Through this initiative, I partner with nonprofits to share a practical way to reach goals by helping teams show up ready and focused, and without burning out.

How I Partner

I’m not interested in just “checking a box.” This is a real investment in your team. To show my commitment to your work, every partnership combines my framework with direct financial support:

  • The Framework Briefing: A simple, high-impact session where I walk your team through the 1-Thing Way to give everyone a shared language for making progress on goals while managing their energy.
  • Practical Action: Small-group sessions or leadership sessions where we apply the framework to real, personal and professional goals to help your team members get clear on how to move forward with the greatest impact, while respecting their energy needs.
  • Direct Investment: Financial support provided through our philanthropic fund to help your organization keep doing its vital work.

About Bernette

As the originator of The 1-Thing Way framework, Bernette provides a practical path to manage life, career, and finances. This is the core of her forthcoming book and the foundation of The 1-Thing Way Impact Initiative, a program that invests in the personal capacity and readiness of nonprofit teams.

She has worked as a community program manager for Kaiser Permanente’s Healthy Eating and Active Living initiatives and contributed to research with the Georgia Health Policy Center. While at the Georgia Health Policy Center she was part of the administrative arm of the Philanthropic Collaborative for a Healthy Georgia. She was also a graduating member of the Atlanta Women’s Foundation’s inaugural Destiny Fund group in 2006, which has become Inspire Atlanta.

Her philanthropy extends to nonprofits now through a private family donor fund which allows her family to create a legacy of impact.
